Sa Font de sa Cala
The correct gestion of the beaches has major priority for the village of Capdepera, that since 2009 is holder of a ambiental certificate ISO 14001:2004, considering the beaches of Cala Mesquida, Cala Agulla, Son Moll, Cala Lliteres, Cala Gat, Font de Sa Cala and Canyamel.
As well we have several beaches with the Blue Flag (Cala Agulla,Cala Mesquida, Font de Sa Cala and Canyamel).
Sa Font de sa Cala is situated at two kilometres from Cala Rajada. The name comes from the sweet water source which is located in the surroundings, although there is another underwater flow, which provokes that the sea water around here is colder and with a lower degree of salinity.
This touristic and residential beach, between low cliffs, has been artificially regenerated, it is quite bigger now and has no pebbles anymore, but a fine-grained sandy area. On the right side there is a channel that closes the beach, and on the left side there are some pine trees on a terrace. It is very comfortable, the water is calm and not very deep. The hotels in the surroundings have been built between two villages of holiday homes, Cala Provençals and es Carregador.
The marine and underwater conditions are very good for anchoring boats, although it can be difficult if the wind blows from the east. We would like to remind you that sa Font de sa Cala is open to the air currents of the first and second quadrants. The navigator is recommended to anchor his boat at a depth of five metres on a sandy and rocky ground. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Cala Rajada, at two nautical miles.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. At 10 metres from this sandy area you will find the nearest bus stop and there is even a touristic mini train that can take you to Cala Rajada.
These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists.
